SM Entertainment and RCA Records Partner on New K-Pop Group RIIZE

K-pop label SM Entertainment has partnered with RCA Records to release the debut single from new K-pop boy band RIIZE. This marks the latest in a line of similar partnerships amid K-pop's global expansion.

New group on the block: RIIZE features seven members, Shotaro, Eunseok, Sungchan, Wonbin, Seunghan, Sohee and Anton, who were revealed by SM last month. SM Entertainment says the group became the fastest K-pop group ever to reach 1 million followers on Instagram. Their new single "Get A Guitar", surpassed 1 million domestic preorders before its release.

What they're saying: “RIIZE is ushering in an exciting new era of K-Pop,” Joseph Chang, CEO of SM and Kakao Entertainment America and Chief Business Officer of SM Entertainment, said in a statement. “We are thrilled to partner with the amazing team at RCA and look forward to making history together.”

RCA Records Chairman and CEO Peter Edge added, “RIIZE are incredibly talented and versatile artists and we are excited to welcome them to the RCA Family and work together with the amazing SM team.”

International partnerships: The formation of RIIZE follows a partnership between HYBE and Universal Music Group‘s Geffen Records, who recently announced the finalists for their upcoming global girl group. The group won't be a K-pop group but their formation and training was influenced by K-pop practices. The ongoing audition will also be chronicled on YouTube and as a Netflix documentary to be released in 2024.
